Player Registration Policies
Carmel Community Grils Softball applies the following policies to player registration:
- Age Divisions.
(player's age is determined by age on December 31st)
Pre-Rookie Ages 6-8
Rookie Ages 9-10
Minor Ages 11-12
Major Ages 13-14
- Team Assignment Requests.
Carmel Community Girls Softball (CCGS) fields competitive teams in the Rookie, Minor, and Major age divisions. In order to insure fair and balanced teams, all players in these divisions are placed on teams based on coach selection during the player draft. Requests to play on the same team as another girl or coach are not considered during the draft.
In the Pre-Rookie age division, team assignments are not made from a player draft. It is CCGS's intent to create teams that mix player age, school attendence, and prior playing experience to provide the most well-rounded team for players. Requests for player assignment may be made, but any given request may not be fulfilled. CCGS recommends that any request made be done from necessity (i.e. carpooling, intended practice schedules) rather than a desire to play with any specific girl or coach.
In all age groups, siblings will be placed on the same team unless otherwise requested by a parent. This is the one exception that affects the player draft.
- Age Group Requests.
With the exception of senior Pre-Rookie players (i.e. 8 year olds), CCGS requires that all girls play in their respective age divsion.
Each season, some 8 year old Pre-Rookies may be asked to play in the Rookie age division. This is done based on league need to complete rosters in the Rookie age group. The number of players varies each year, and parents do not have to allow their child to play up if they don't believe their child is sufficiently prepared.
- Waiting List.
In the event that there are not enough players to field a team when registration closes, CCGS may institute a waiting list. The division director will identify the last players registered in the affected age group to be placed on the waiting list and will notify them at the skills evaluation. Should there not be enough players added through late registration, those players on the waiting list who are not assigned a team will receive a full refund.
- Late Registration.
Once registration closes, generally the day before skills evaluation, any subsequent registration requests are conditional. Typically, the league needs additional players to complete rosters on or after skill evaluations, and we will most likely be able to include all players who attempt to register before the draft. Once the draft is held, it is unlikely that any subsequent registration requests can be honored.
- Refunds.
CCGS will provide a full refund of the entire registration fee for any player added to a waiting list who is not placed on a team.
CCGS will provide refunds for late registrants or girls who decide not to play prior to team assignment. All refunds for late registrants or girls who decide not to play will exclude any costs incurred by the league.
Once assigned to a team, refunds are not provided.
Coach Registration Policies
Carmel Community Grils Softball applies the following policies to coach registration:
- Coach Application.
Carmel Community Girls Softball (CCGS) strives to take every precaution in protecting the safety of our players. CCGS requires all adults who have supervisory responsibility over minors in our league to complete and sign this application prior to consideration for a manager or coach position. Information provided through this form is for the sole purpose of selecting adult supervisors for our youth softball league. The privacy of this information will be strictly maintained and will not be shared, distributed, sold or in any other way released to any third parties.
- ACE Certification.
ACE certification protects both players (by insuring coaches are trained in basic skills required to be effective youth coaches and that background checks are performed) and coaches (by providing liability and medical insurance). All practices require the presence of at least one ACE certified coach. No more than three ACE certified coaches are allowed in dugouts or on the field during games.
Any exceptions to these policies must be approved by the CCGS board of directors.
